Credit Unions are unique, not-for-profit, cooperative financial institutions owned by their members and guided by volunteers. The Front Royal Federal Credit Union is currently searching for dedicated volunteers from within our membership to serve on our Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors. The Supervisory Committee ensures the financial well being of the credit union. They ensure the effectiveness of internal checks and balances, adherence to policies and procedures, and oversee the safety and soundness of credit union operations. The Board of Directors sets policies, plans the credit union's course, makes sure the credit union maintains its sound financial condition, keeps communication open to educate members on services, reviews the chief executive officer's progress in achieving goals and objectives, and reports to the members at the annual meeting. All decisions must be guided by the best interests of the membership.
Volunteers serve without monetary compensation but gain personal satisfaction by playing an important role in the nurturing of their credit union. A volunteer requires integrity, a commitment of time, willingness to learn, discipline to carry out specific duties and a desire to serve and act in the best interest of our members and the credit union. Knowledge of basic financial statements is required.
The ability for members to get involved in the management and operations of their credit union is a key difference that sets our credit union apart from other financial institutions. If you are interested in serving on our Board of Directors or Supervisory Committee, please contact us at 540-635-7133 extension 228 or email Kim Darr at email@example.com for a complete description and list of specific responsibilities of a Board and Supervisory Committee member.
